Sports injury can range from soft tissue to cartilage injuries around various joints. Common injuries include Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear to the knee as well as chondral injuries in various joints such as knee, shoulder and hip. Early intervention is essential to optimally return to sporting activities.
The knee joint is very essential to facilitate mobilization of patients. Early surgical intervention with optimal physiotherapy results in return to full function in patients with knee joint replacement as well as realignment surgery.
Hip replacements is essential to be done with optimal mechanics to prevent instability and early return to function. Optimal bearings increases longevity in implant and facilitates in outcomes exceeding 20years.
The important purpose of robotics is to increase the precision of surgery to enable optimal alignment with minimal tissue injury. This is becoming increasingly important interventional tool in joint surgery.
Back injuries are very common in patients. Early identification facilitates in both non surgical as well as minimally invasive surgical treatment techniques. Bony injuries such as fractures from trauma would also need early intervention to facilitate in optimal return to work and lifestyle.
Shoulder injuries can range from muscle tears to ligament injuries. The shoulder is multi directional mobile joint. Optimizing the ligament healing as well as the muscle strengthening will facilitate in patient regaining the full use of upper limb.
